L’Escala est un port de pêche entouré de criques et de plages, sur la Costa Brava (Espagne). Fort de son histoire, il propose le Musée d’Archéologie de Catalunya-Empúries, des ruines grecques et romaines. Un peu plus loin, on s’attarde avec plaisir dans le village médiéval de Saint Martin d’Espuries. De forte inspiration marine, le village a créé un Musée de l’Anchois et du Sel. On peut visiter des conserveries d’anchois (5 au total) qui emploient encore les méthodes traditionnelles. Bien sûr, la gastronomie locale a accommodé l’anchois de diverses façons. Si on est plongeur, on peut s’aventure dans le cimetière marin. Si on préfère la surface, les sports nautiques ne manquent pas (voile, croisière, …).
