Peaceful Eco-Cottage Near Vézelay, Converted Barn

Come relax and enjoy our ECO-GÎTE located in the hamlet of Val Sainte Marie, 15 minutes from Vézelay and near the Arcy-sur-Cure caves. Our cottage offers peace and quiet, country charm, and all the comforts to make your stay enjoyable.

The house has been renovated with the spirit of the old stonework while incorporating modern technology. The materials used are environmentally friendly (hemp insulation, eco-friendly paints, a Canadian heat exchanger for dual-flow ventilation, a heat pump, and a Douglas fir deck from Morvan, etc.). All materials have a low carbon footprint due to their local origin. The cottage can accommodate 4 people, but is ideal for 2 people or a couple with 2 children.
Furthermore, its unusual layout creates half-levels connected by stairs, making it difficult for people with reduced mobility.

You enter the kitchen/dining area; on the mezzanine, you have access to the library/relaxation area. A staircase leads to the sleeping area and bathrooms. No Wi-Fi.

A 750m² plot of land adjoining the cottage is at your disposal. It consists of a large terrace around the house with garden furniture under a pergola, adjoining a herb garden, an orchard, and a vegetable garden. Pets are not allowed.

In a former barn, we have created a relaxation area, "Les Hirondelles," where you will find garden furniture and relaxing armchairs. A Maillard stove fireplace is located there, as well as a cordwood wall. Bicycles can be stored in the locked garage.

For electric vehicles, a fast charging station is available in the village near the "Au Panier Bourguignon" shop.

In the village, you will find:

A bakery and grocery store, Chez Cathy, closed Wednesdays and Thursdays.

A community café, CHEZ LA MERE LELEU, run by volunteers. It is open Fridays and Saturdays from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Sundays from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. In summer, snacks are available (aperitif platters).
