Your host: Nestled at the end of a dead end in a small village on the “Côte des Bar” in Champagne, torn away from time, you will discover this imposing old water mill from 1832, enthroned behind a small meandering river. In the background, the meadows, and wooded parks as far as the eye can see. The adjoining barn had been transformed into 3 workshops including one for engraving by the painter "Grégoire Michonze" who had owned it since 1967. He stayed there for the last 15 years of his life, making this old building his artist's studio. The mill had become his home port. On his canvases nature penetrated more and more and birds were omnipresent. Since 1982, the mill had fallen asleep and in 2017 we began work to resuscitate it and open the cottage in 2020 for our greatest pleasure. The restoration was meticulously carried out in part by the owner who knew how to respect the soul of the place by keeping the stone walls, the glass roof on the roof and the staircase, and by associating noble materials such as wood, iron, glass and stone in order to offer an atypical and quality architectural ensemble that leaves no one indifferent, as our guests testify to each of their stay. A haven of peace some would say, a source of inspiration and daydreaming others will think while listening to the gentle sound of the flowing river…. The owners, Isabelle and Francis were keen to share their little piece of paradise with you.
